The Airport Directory @ Travel Notes
helps you find the websites of National and International Airports -- along with airport
codes, which airline flies where, destination information, how to get there and all about
ground transportation and airport facilities around the world.
Baguio (Loakan Airport):
(BAG) (Philippines)
Philippine Air Lines flies daily from the domestic airport of Manila to the Loakan Airport
in Baguio. The flying time for the Fokker 50 aircraft is about 50 minutes. Loakan Airport
is closed in bad weather and flights are diverted to the airport in San Fernando, La Union
-- 40 km from Baguio.
Bangkok (Don
Muang International):
(BKK) (Thailand) Bangkok International Airport is about 25km
north of the city and very easy to get to with public transport. The Don Muang train
station is only 500 metres from the airport and there are plenty of city buses -- among
them, Bus 13 goes to Sukhumvit Road and the Eastern Region Bus Terminal; Bus 10 to the
Southern Bus Terminal; and Bus 29 to the Railway Station. The airport itself is considered
a hub for both Thailand and South East Asia, with a regular stream of business travellers,
tourists and backpackers clutching their LP 'South East Asia on a Shoestring' guidebook. Suvarnabhumi will become
Bangkok's new international airport, in 2005.
Beijing
Capital International Airport:
(PEK) (China) The Beijing Capital International Airport
terminal officially opened on October 1, 1999, marking the 50th anniversary of Chinese
Communist rule. The airport is 26 kilometers, or 40 minutes, from the center of Beijing
and is served by a government-run shuttle-bus. Many hotels also run their own airport
shuttle bus services although most people prefer getting there by taxi, which is very
convenient and charges reasonable.
Bombay
(Chhatrapati Shivaji Int'l Airport):
(BOM) (India) Mumbai airport serves as one of India's
major international airports, with up to 35 landings and take-offs an hour. International
arrivals and departures are most frequent at night.
Chiang Mai
International Airport:
(CNX) (Thailand) Gateway to northern Thailand's breathtaking
natural attractions and deep-rooted cultural traditions, Chiang Mai International Airport
is 4km southwest of downtown Chiang Mai.
Hat Yai
International Airport:
(HDY) (Thailand) Located in Songkhla Province, popularly
dubbed the trading center of the South, Hat Yai International Airport has played a key
role in providing services to thousands of Muslims making the pilgrimage to Mecca each
year.
Phuket
International Airport:
(HKT) (Thailand) Phuket International Airport, Thailand's
second busiest airport, is the gateway to Phuket Island and glorious beaches in the
southern part of Thailand. 32km from downtown Phuket.
