United States in the World Cup Finals

World Cup Appearances:
France 1998 was Team USA's 6th appearance in the World Cup Finals.

Best World Cup Performance:
United States made the semi-finals in Uruguay 1930.

Team USA are in their sixth World Cup Finals, but soccer in the States is still not considered major league.

American sportsmen make more money at baseball, hockey, or American Football, and perhaps this is the reason the professionalism doesn't continue past the soccer youth camps.

15th June: vs. Germany (0:1) in Paris.

21st June: vs. Iran (1:2) in Lyon.

25th June: vs. Yugoslavia (0:1) in Nantes.

It would always be a major league upset for Germany or Yugoslavia if the USA scored a place in the second round. In the end they only scored one goal; in the defeat to Iran.

The Americans made plenty of chances, but they really do need larger goals.

Knockout Stage

USA failed to qualify for the Second Round.
