 Apostolic Voyage 91From March 20th to March
        26th, Pope John Paul II made a Jubilee
        Pilgrimage to the Holy Land; visiting Amman, Monte Nebo, Wadi Al-Kharrar, Tel Aviv,
        Jerusalem, Al-Maghtas, Bethlehem, Korazim, Cafarnao and Nazareth (Jordan), Israel and Palestine). Pope at The
        Holy Wall:Pope John Paul II touched the Wailing Wall, the holiest site in Judaism, in Jerusalem. The
        pope was on a politically charged tour of three sites holy to Muslims, Jews, and
        Christians in the Holy Land.
 Wadi
        Al-Kharrar:Excavations in Jordan, in 1997, uncovered a series of ancient sites associated with the
        tradition of John the Baptist and the baptism of Jesus; located along the length of the
        Wadi Al-Kharrar, east of the River Jordan.
 Apostolic Voyage 92From May 12th to May 13th, Pope John Paul II travelled to Lisbon and Fatima (Portugal). On June 5th, the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, visited Pope
        John Paul II in The Vatican. H.M. Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain and H.R.H. Prince Philip,
        Duke of Edinburgh also paid The Pope a visit (during the State
        Visit to Italy) on October 17th. Pope and
        Queen Elizabeth:Britain's Queen Elizabeth II and the pope talked at the Vatican. The monarch was dressed
        in black velvet and a matching veil, as is Vatican tradition for visiting female heads of
        state.
 Holy
        Door of St Peter's Basilica:Pope John Paul II closed the Holy Door of Saint Peter's Basilica January 6th, 2001;
        symbolically ending the Jubilee 2000 celebrations.
 Apostolic Voyage 93From May 4th to May 9th, Pope John Paul II made a Jubilee Pilgrimage
        to Greece, Syria and Malta, in the footsteps of St. Paul the Apostle,
        visiting Athens (Greece) Damascus and Quneitra (Syria; to make a plea
        for peace); Gudja, Floriana and Hamrun (Malta). Apostolic Voyage 94From June 23rd to June 27th, Pope John Paul II travelled to Kiev,
        Lviv, Bryukhovychi and Sykhiv (Ukraine). On August 1, Pope John Paul II carried out his 1,000th General

        travelled to Astana (Kazakhstan);
        Yerevan, Etchmiadzin and Khor Virap (Armenia); to mark 1,700 years of
