The capital of St Vincent and the Grenadines is on the south-west
coast of St Vincent Island, at the head of Kingstown Bay.
Kingstown has an artificial deep-water harbour and Arnos Vale International airport is nearby.
Kingstown's botanical garden, conceived in 1765, is the oldest in the
western hemisphere.
The British also built Fort Charlotte, north of the town, in the
late 18th century.
