Atlanta, Georgia - Compare Hotels

Atlanta, Georgia

The downtown megahotels - Hyatt Regency Atlanta, Marriott Marquis, Ritz-Carlton Atlanta, Hilton Atlanta - cater to business and large conventions. They are all top-of-the-line establishments fully able to meet the needs of the business traveler, conventioneer or leisure traveler accustomed to the best

The first thing to understand when visiting Atlanta is that it is a small town surrounded by a large community. While Los Angeles may have the reputation, you will not find a better example of uncoordinated runaway growth and urban sprawl than Atlanta.

Atlanta's rail system, MARTA, is the best way to get around town. It's inexpensive and reliable and is well connected with the bus system, which serves parts of town the rail doesn't.

Savannah, Georgia

Most of the Savannah action in hotels, restaurants and bars is centered downtown on River Street and Bay Street, divided into West Bay and East Bay.

When it comes to hotels, Savannah is like the chicken or the egg. Which came first? A small group of hotels and historic inns? Or did tourists and business travelers make the city so popular that more hotels had to follow?

Georgia Travel Notes

Atlanta, Georgia

Atlanta: A local's view: by Chuck Mavis.

Atlanta has always been a city that looked forward. When citizens laid the first railroad tracks in the 1840s, they were already dreaming of a town that would become a transportation hub.

Jekyll Island, Georgia

Family Vacation in Jekyll Island: by Chuck Mavis.

Jekyll Island is the most well known of Georgia's Golden Isles, a remote, often inexpensive vacation destination located just one hour south of Savannah. If you want a rowdy Spring-Break type atmosphere, it's probably not the place for you.

St. Simons Island, Georgia

Leave The Crowds Behind: by Chuck Mavis.

As you drive beneath the canopies created by moss-draped oak trees lining the roads of St. Simons Island, you feel stress flee your body. The pressures of the city and the crush of the working world simply can't survive in this sort of environment.
