Thirty two teams battle it out for the right to be called the best club in Europe.


The 1st Phase divides the 32 teams into eight groups of four.

Group A
AS Monaco, Deportivo La Coruña, Liverpool, Olympiacos.

Group B
AS Roma, Dynamo Kiev, Bayer Leverkusen, Real Madrid.

Group C
Ajax, Bayern Munich, Juventus, Maccabi Tel-Aviv.

Group D
Fenerbahçe, Manchester United, Olympique Lyon, Sparta Prague.

Group E
Arsenal, Panathinaikos, PSV Eindhoven, Rosenborg.

Group F
AC Milan, Barcelona, Celtic, Shakhtar Donetsk.

Group G
Anderlecht, Inter Milan, Valencia, Werder Bremen.

Group H
Chelsea, CSKA Moscow, FC Porto, Paris St-Germain.


The teams play each other home and away over 6 Matchdays.

Matchday 1:
Tuesday, 14th September and Wednesday, 15th September.

Matchday 2:
Tuesday, 28th September and Wednesday, 29th September.

Matchday 3:
Tuesday, 19th October and Wednesday, 20th October.

Matchday 4:
Tuesday, 2nd November and Wednesday, 3rd November.

Matchday 5:
Tuesday, 23rd November and Wednesday, 24th November.

Matchday 6:
Tuesday, 7th December and Wednesday, 8th December.


The top two teams in each group then enter the Knockout Phase, while the eight third-placed teams join the UEFA Cup; at the third round stage.
